His passing has left family, friends, former colleagues, and community members reflecting on the impact he made throughout his life.
Baker joined the Pembroke Pines Police Department in 1994 and built a respected career serving in several roles, including road patrol officer, field training officer, master patrol officer, public information officer, traffic homicide investigator, and traffic unit sergeant. He was also a founding member of the department’s Crisis Response Team, created to support first responders during difficult moments.
A strong advocate for traffic safety, Baker worked alongside Mothers Against Drunk Driving and volunteered at community events focused on preventing impaired driving. His commitment to service continued beyond his police career, including his involvement with charity races through Special Compass and the Special Olympics Torch Run.
Baker’s life was also centered on his family. He was a devoted father of three children who enjoyed traveling, music, and attending concerts with his loved ones. After suffering life-changing injuries in an on-duty motorcycle crash in 2019, he showed remarkable determination through recovery and continued inspiring those around him with his positivity and strength. His legacy of courage, compassion, and service will continue through the many lives he touched.
