The Brandenburg, Kentucky community is mourning the passing of Karlie Odele Haycraft, 29, who tragically passed away alongside her boyfriend, Trenton Thomas, 26, following a fatal two-vehicle collision on Old Mill Road (KY 1638) near LG&E Road in Meade County on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
According to Kentucky State Police Post 4, the crash occurred shortly before 1:00 a.m. when a Nissan Pathfinder reportedly crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Ford Fusion driven by Thomas, where Haycraft was a passenger. Both Karlie and Trenton were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Meade County Coroner. The Kentucky State Police Reconstruction Unit continues investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, and no formal charges have been announced.
Karlie was known by loved ones for her vibrant personality, infectious smile, and the happiness she brought to those around her. Above all, she was a devoted mother who deeply loved her daughters, JoLee and Lily, and her family described her children as the center of her world. Her sudden passing has left her family, friends, and community facing an unimaginable loss.
Joint funeral services for Karlie Haycraft and Trenton Thomas will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg, with visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial education trust has also been established for Karlie’s daughters through The Cecilian Bank.
