The San Antonio, Texas, community is mourning the passing of Jessy Samuel Gonzales, 31, whose life tragically came to an end following an accidental drowning beneath a bridge on the city’s West Side early Monday. Jessy was found face-down in the river near Northwest 26th Street, West Houston Street, and Travis Street after pedestrians walking beneath the bridge noticed him in the water. In an urgent effort to help, bystanders entered the river, pulled him to shore, and contacted emergency services.
Despite attempts by first responders to revive him, Jessy could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified him and determined that his cause of death was drowning, with the manner of death ruled accidental.
